Upgraded Mitsubishi Lancer 2.0GT

Upgraded Mitsubishi Lancer 2.0GT

The Mitsubishi Lancer 2.0 GT gets an upgrade this month with additional features and equipment that give a sportier look while also enhancing safety.

The new version gets a customized bodykit with integrated daytime running lights (DRLs). The DRLs, which are in a vertical strip on the lower portion of each side of the front bumper, use bright LEDS that make the car more visible to other motorists. A study by Avis (the car rental company) showed a 64% reduction in car damages and a 69% decrease in repair costs for cars equipped with DRLs largely because collisions were avoided.

Also enhancing safety and adding convenience is the standard provision of a reverse camera. This will allow the driver not only to spot any hazards or children that can’t be seen in the mirrors as well as position the car properly in the parking bay. The camera has sufficient sensitivity to provide clear images even at night.

For a more premium feel, the new Lancer 2.0GT has Nappa leather seats and premium carpet mats. Other standard equipment in this version includes a 2DIN touchscreen entertainment system (6 speakers), auto rain-sensing wipers, auto lighting control and cruise control.

Technical specifications are unchanged and the car continues to use the 150 ps/197 Nm 2.0-litre MIVEC engine with an INVECS-III with 6-Step Sports Mode transmission. The driver can select gears manually using magnesium paddles on the steering which, unlike most other cars, remain in a fixed position rather than follow the rotation of the steering wheel.

The Lancer 2.0GT comes with a full complement of safety equipment, including  dual-stage airbags for both front occupants  and pretensioners with force-limiters for the seatbelts. The 4-wheel disc brake system is managed by ABS with EBD and Brake Assist, the latter providing a boost in braking pressure during emergency situations.

The car’s RISE (Reinforced Impact Safety Evolution) bodyshell has extensive front and rear crumple zones which absorb the impact forces of a collision before they cause harm to the occupants.

Imported as a CBU model from Japan, the new Lancer 2.0GT is priced at RM125,467.80 (excluding insurance) and comes in three colour choices – White, Black Mica and Red Metallic.
